At Fólkvangr Grove, we celebrate the turning of the seasons as a living rhythm, with gatherings open to all. The Wheel of the Year carries us through cycles of light and dark, growth and rest, change and return. It guides us and grounds us in the land, and in the stories nature tells.
The Wheel of the Year is made up of eight key festivals spaced throughout the year. These are:
The four solar festivals:
Yule — the shortest day and longest night, around December 21st, the Winter Solstice
Ostara — day and night are equal, around March 21st, the Vernal Equinox
Litha — the longest day and shortest night, around June 21st, the Summer Solstice
Mabon — day and night are equal again, around September 21st, the Autumn Equinox
The four seasonal festivals:
Imbolg — February 1st, marking the first signs of spring
Beltane — May 1st, celebrating the height of spring and fertility
Lughnasadh — August 1st, the first harvest
Samhain — October 31st to November 1st, honoring the end of the harvest and the beginning of our new year!
These eight days make up the Wheel’s turning
These seasonal gatherings are a chance to reconnect with the Earth, with one another, and with the deeper patterns that shape our lives. Whether you are new to the path or have been walking it for years, you are welcome to join us. There is always a place for you by the fire.
