Fólkvangr means “the people’s meadow” and is said to be the sacred realm of the Norse goddess Freyja. From the Old Norse fólk (people) and vangr (field), the name honors both community and land. When our first daughter, Freyja, was born, we left behind city life and journeyed across Canada to begin a new life on this land, building our off-grid homestead from the ground up. We named our meadow after her sacred realm, a place of beauty, rest, and remembrance. Over the past decade, what began as a homestead has evolved into something more: a living sanctuary for learning, growth, and transformation. Fólkvangr Grove is both practical and spiritual, both rooted and reaching.
The Outer Grove is where we gather in community. We host forest school programs for children and families, movement arts including parkour, yoga, historical martial arts, and forest fitness, as well as workshops in survival skills, wild foraging, archery, and axe throwing. Our Wheel of the Year gatherings are family-friendly events with seasonal rites, traditional games, competitions, and fire festivals. All offerings are grounded in nature reverence, ancestral skills, and a meaningful relationship with the land.
The Inner Grove is reserved for those called to the deeper path. It is a private initiatory tradition, a mystery school of the old ways, guided by lunar rhythms, ancestral memory, and sacred transformation.
Fólkvangr Grove was founded by Devin and Katrina Scott, along with their three children, two of whom were born on this land. Devin and Katrina were handfasted here as well, beneath the same trees they now tend. This land is our home, our hearth, and our living temple. We raise our children here. We tend the Grove. We teach what we live, and live what we teach.
Along with Meadow & Forest Trails, we have a Wooden Playgroud, Sand Pit, Obstacle Course, Trampoline, and Archery Range.
